This world is messy and full of distractions. Sometimes life moves slowly, like a snail dragging itself along day by day; other times it moves at bewildering speed, risking a fatal crash. Things happen. Things change. Things go away.
There is so much beauty in the world that it's sometimes hard to notice it. We so desperately try to fit into the human world that our minds push away the natural beauty that is right in front of us. We forget the childlike wonder that we once felt when witnessing a caterpillar emerge as a butterfly. For each of us, there is a way to see this beauty. For me, that way is photography. I have learned to see the world differently because of my camera. I see beauty where others don't. You may have a different way to see this beauty such as sketching, journaling, hiking, or all three. I encourage you to find your way to see beauty where others may not. Try looking at things from a new angle. Find something beautiful and take a picture of it, sketch it, and see what you come out with. Are you more comfortable behind a camera or pencil? Please share your thoughts with me in the comments below. What's your favorite way to see beauty in nature?

Two weeks ago, my family and I took a trip to see some beautiful landscapes far away. We traveled through Las Vegas and Zion National Park before arriving at our final destination, the Grand Canyon. The things we saw on this trip were incredible, and they showed the awesome power of the Creator. Here are some of my best pictures from the trip.
I know it's two days late, but here's this week's post. :) Color is such a big part of our everyday lives, but imagine your world without it. Some things would look dull without color, but for some things, beauty may be enhanced in a black and white world. Take the time to see your world without color. Perhaps you'll be pleasantly surprised. Do you enjoy black and white photos? Tell me in the comments below.
Many months ago in the summer weather of August 2017, my family and I were vacationing in the hills of Virginia, just miles away from Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. We found something at the campground: a very large caterpillar. Being the nature lovers we are, we quickly collected our "specimen" in a Starbucks iced-coffee cup and gave this caterpillar some leaves to chew on (although I don't think it needed to grow anymore... This thing was HUGE). Then, the next day, it had built it's cocoon and went to sleep for who knows how long. Months went by. We thought our caterpillar would never awake. But yesterday it did. One of the last things we expected to see crawling around our house, this fat, wrinkled, wet Polyphemus moth was a very startling sight to see. But it hatched! After over half a year, it hatched. Almost like a resurrection. Here are some pictures I took of the moth (click to enlarge) Thanks for reading. Happy Easter everyone!
This week, more ice has covered all of the leaves and trees... ...causing a unique beauty to show itself in every leaf on every tree. |
