After insects, arachnids are the largest group of arthropods. The most famous of arachnids (and probably the most feared) are the spiders. Spiders are hated and feared all around the globe. Why is that? Their appearance and nasty habit piercing flesh with their two fangs could have something to do with it. I have heard many people ask when confronting a threatening spider, “Is it poisonous?” The answer is always yes, no matter what type of spider, although most cannot harm humans. Only a few, such as the black widow and the brown recluse, have been known to give a fatal bite. Other than spiders, scorpions and ticks are also well known and hated creatures. Being arachnids, they have eight legs and two body parts: the cephalothorax and abdomen.
Scorpion stings can be very venomous and often fatal. These arachnids are not to be messed with. While ticks aren’t known to be venomous, they often carry harmful diseases that can cause much discomfort and struggle.
