1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. 4 Their measuring line goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, 5which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. 6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat. This verse in the book of Psalms fills me with love and awe of creation and the creator. I like how Timothy Keller puts it:
“A SOUNDLESS WORD. Why do mountains and oceans, the sun and stars move us as deeply as great art? The answer is because they are great art. Nature speaks to all (verse 2) without audible words (verse 3). It is nonverbal communication that there is a God, that the world is not an accidental collocation of molecules but the meaningful work of an artist’s hands. We should be reverent before our environment. It also means that all people know, at some level, about God, truth, meaning, wisdom, and beauty, even if they suppress that knowledge (Romans 1:18-21). Nevertheless, good, nonverbal communication is easily misinterpreted. We need something more.” Keller’s words speak such truth, and they inspire me. Maybe they inspire you, too? Timothy Keller ended with a prayer. Just one, perfect prayer. Read it as if you, too, are praying to the creator. “Maker of heaven and earth, your creation speaks and sings to us of your greatness. May I never despise nature, failing to care reverently for its integrity, nor worship nature, failing to let it point me beyond itself to your glory, which even it only ‘fitfully reflects.’ Amen.” Think about that this week. Maybe say that prayer to yourself a few times, maybe it will bless you.

Merry Christmas to all my wonderful readers! You have given me a wonderful gift: a reason to write. I thank you all for reading my blog, and I wish you a merry Christmas with all my heart. We all are familiar with the story of Santa. How he “sees you when you’re sleeping,” and how “he knows when you’re awake.” But we also all know that this is just a story. That the happy feeling of a merry old man who gives us pleasing gifts is fraud. We made this story up, but Christmas holds the wonder of another story. This one is true. Thousands of years ago, nearly 2017 years in fact, our savior was born on this earth. He came to us in the humble body of a baby boy, and grew with his parents in a poor home. He didn’t seem like a king, but he was the son of God. He was God, and he came to rescue his creation. His people. How did he rescue us? By setting us free from our sins. He came to give us a way to heaven. Not an easy way, but an easier way. And how can one be saved? By giving your heart to your creator and God. By setting aside your pride and excepting that He is not only your LORD, but also your savior. This Christmas, allow yourself to be born again in a humble way just like Jesus was born in a humble stable.
Think about that this Christmas. Jesus is waiting for you. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth,” says Genesis chapter one verse one in God’s holy Bible. Do you believe these few words? Although these ten words may seem ordinary, they are one of the most important in the whole history of the world. In fact, Genesis goes on to say God created everything in only seven days. The seventh was the day of rest. Bellow I go into more detail on the seven days:
Day One: God creates light, and separates the darkness from the light calling the light Day and the darkness Night. Day Two: God separates the waters and an expanse which he calls Heaven Day Three: God separates the waters and brings it to one place letting dry land appear. He calls the dry land Earth and the waters Seas. God grows plants and trees yielding fruit and seeds. He grows grass and all types of vegetation. Day Four: God made the sun, the stars, and the moon. The sun ruled the day, and the moon and stars ruled the night. Day Five: God creates birds and swimming creatures, and they roam the earth freely. Day Six: God creates livestock, then he creates us. Man. He gives us the earth to live on and to rule, and he calls it all good. Day Seven: God rests on the LORD's day. On the Sunday. Only six days of work, and God made the whole earth and everything on it. He even made you. Although you may not believe it, he designed you specifically, and he loves you overwhelmingly. No matter how you have disrespected your creator in the past, he will forgive you. Our God is a kind god. |
