Christmas time is here yet again, and the holiday preparation has begun. These few weeks before Christmas go by so fast, and looking back, often we only see a jumble of chaos and confused busyness. We look back and realize that we did nothing during those weeks. Nothing, at least, with nature.
We can avoid this, though. You might be thinking, “What is there to see in nature during the winter? It’s just cold snow and ice.” Ah, but that cold snow and ice is magical! Frost sprinkling the evergreen leaves, snow blanketing the hard ground, and small birds hopping in the cool dusting. There is so much to see. Christmas time doesn't have to be a nature free time for we lovers of creation. We can enjoy the simple things around us, from a snowflake falling into our faces, to the incredible silence of winter. All these things can bring us a sense of love of the natural world during this frantic holiday rush. During this holiday season, think of the busyness we all face as a challenge. A challenge to bring you closer to nature in a magical way. A challenge that will make you think and feel, but most of all it will help you see so much more in the world.

Lovely reminder to slow down and smell ... well, not the roses, but at least the fresh air.
